AAL+Healthcare Data: Project launched to explore usage scenarios and data structures for the distribution of healthcare data.
The AAL+Healthcare Data project focuses on the data environment around the healthcare sector and is aiming to explore and determine novel usage scenarios, dataset structures and applicable models for the distribution of AAL and healthcare data or services via the Data Market Austria.
Driven by the demographic change and the digital transformation the markets of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) and healthcare are becoming some of the fastest growing markets for data. The exploratory project AAL+Healthcare Data transforms existing data repositories to demand-oriented, novel datasets and data services for the Data Market services and care organisations and further data user groups.
Hence, the goals of the AAL+Healthcare Data project are to explore scientific knowledge and literature, analyse and determine best practices and approved business models and investigate data requirements for datasets and data usage in the area of AAL and healthcare. Secondly, the project plans to develop usage scenarios of AAL and healthcare data supported by the quantitative and qualitative surveys that will be answered by relevant healthcare stakeholders. Finally, the AAL+Healthcare Data project aims to elaborate dataset structures, which include specifications of licenses and formats, in order to guarantee the exploitation potential of the data provided. Moreover, the project will aim to create short-term and long-term exploitation strategies including business and services models, as well as structured set of measures. Finally, to ensure visibility of the project and its outcomes, the project will apply dissemination strategies to display the outcomes via the Data Market Austria and further channels.
The project AAL+Healthcare Data is part of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) programme “ICT of the Future” and it is constituted of two organisations. Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Wien is an organisation responsible for the outpatient care of older people in all districts of Vienna. It has several years of first-hand experience and knowledge on AAL and healthcare. SYNYO is a highly dynamic enterprise focusing on research, innovation and technology. The organisation has extensive expertise and experience with healthcare and information technology related projects, which included management of healthcare data and implementation of various sized data-driven solutions hosting a large amount of AAL and healthcare data. SYNYO, as project coordinator and main research partner, will contribute to the project with the necessary expertise for research, dataset structures, data services and the exploitation strategies.
In order to achieve the goals and fill the research gaps identified, the project is structured in five work packages that in total will add up to a total term of 9 months duration.
Project objectives
The AAL+Healthcare Data project has the following objectives:
- Investigation of appropriate knowledge, literature, best practices and approved business models, as well as data requirements.
- Conception of feasible usage scenarios of AAL and healthcare data by including relevant stakeholders and their individual data requirements.
- Elaboration of dataset structures including relevant sample data including legal validations, and specification of licences and formats.
- Dissemination of the project outcomes via the Data Market Austria and further channels, including the provision of leaflets, and content.
- Creation of a short-term and long-term exploitation strategy including business and service models, as well as a structured set of measures.
