Type of action: F&E Dienstleistung
Funded by: KIRAS
The IoThreats project pursues the goal of collecting existing studies, trends and technologies from various areas of smart environments – especially in the field of smart homes – with a focus on the Austrian market in order to purposefully assess requirements and needs. The research and development company SYNYO will, together with the project partners JOANNEUM, ALES and BMI, elaborate on the current state-of-the-art in the security-relevant context of smart homes.
Building on the initial exploration, solutions will be technically analysed to identify and visualize potential threat scenarios. In addition, criminal law framework conditions will be analysed in terms of security. Scenarios will be prioritized and recommendations for future use of smart home devices and possible legal changes will be integrated in an overall strategy for the BMI.
At the same time, the project IoThreats, which distinguishes itself in its interdisciplinary and holistic view, is intended to address further international users, experts, as well as researchers and developers through effective communication and dissemination of the project results. The project not only aims to stimulate a scientific discussion but also a public discourse to sensitize the public to smart devices and their potential security implications.
The IoThreats project is promoted within the security research funding KIRAS by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) within the security research funding KIRAS. Project number: 860641
